Born on June 12, 1956 in Dagestan.
Married, two sons.
Graduated with honours from South-Russian State Polytechnic University in 1979 with specialization of «Power Engineer».
Graduated from Russian Foreign Trade Academy majoring in “International Economic Relations”.
I.Kh. YUSUFOV has more than 30 years of experience in power and oil and gas industry.
His professional career began from the position of Engineer at Mosenergo.
From 1984 for a period of three years participated in the construction of thermal power plant HAVANA (Cuba).
Since 1991 served as the Deputy chairman of the Presidential Committee for defense of economic interests of the Russian Federation.
For the following three years he was a shareholder and served as the Head of the Governmentally owned Company RV-Trading.
From 1998 till 2001 he held senior positions at Russian agency on state reserves.
From 2001 till 2004 he served as the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.
In 2004 he was appointed as a representative of the President of the Russian Federation on International issues concerning Fuel and Energy Complex.
Since 2003 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the PJSC Gazprom.
Since 2002 till 2004 he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the PJSC Rosneft.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of:
- PJSC RAO UES of Russia
- PJSC Transneft
- JSC Transnefteproduct
Since 2011 he conducts private investment activities through Corporation Energy, which was founded by him.
